Elderly hold the key to unlocking the housing crisis

McCarthy & Stone, the UK’s largest retirement housebuilder, have produced the third annual Retirement Confidence Index with YouGov. The survey included a nationally representative sample of 3,000 people aged over 65 and 700 adults aged under 30. It found that three in five (60%) under-30s believe the UK needs more ‘later homes’ for older people, not just ‘starter homes’ for first time buyers, adding that 70% of pensioners feel the same way.
